Original RoboDrive frameless servo motors Designed for demanding applications

RoboDrive technology from TQ has its origins in the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Researchers there developed a new frameless motor technology – a servo motor with outstanding power density and high torque coupled with compact size and lightweight construction. These motors also offered excellent speed stability, dynamic response and thermal connectivity, making them a pioneering technology ideally suited for use in robotics.

Developed for use in space

Compact, lightweight servo motors from TQ-RoboDrive were first used on space missions in the ROKVISS robotic arm. With its two joints and metal finger, ROKVISS conducted precise tasks in a weightless environment.

Between 2005 and 2010 it successfully completed about 500 tests on the International Space Station.

The German-French rover project Idefix, developed by the DLR (German Aerospace Center) and the French space agency CNES, will explore the Martian moon Phobos – powered by high-performance ILM-series servomotors from TQ-RoboDrive.

Outstanding dynamic response, maximum design freedom

The optimization of dynamic response, reliability, precision and lightweight construction has resulted in very compact frameless servo motors that meet the specific requirements of a variety of customers. Measuring just 15 to 115 millimeters, these stator-rotor installation kits have a very large hollow shaft and can be enhanced with safety brakes and absolute encoders from our product portfolio.
