The technology company TQ is expanding its range of modules with the Sitara processor family from Texas Instruments. The new TQMa65xx is particularly suitable for applications in the area of real-time communication and fieldbuses. Software from Kunbus GmbH supports the module. The first prototypes will be available from August.
Up to 3x PRUs (Programmable Realtime Units) can be used as up to six real-time capable Ethernet ports for TSN or fieldbus applications. The TQMa65xx thus enables industrial connections via Ethercat, Profinet or even Profibus for data communication between machines and their controllers. The module is therefore particularly suitable for industrial process monitoring and measurement technology.
With the selection of the Sitara AM65xx processor family, TQ is following up on modules that are already available in which AM335x and AM57xx CPUs are used. The numerous functions of the powerful AM65xx CPUs make the module suitable for a wide range of low- to high-end applications thanks to five different processor derivatives. The number of cores varies from a Dual Core (1x Dual Core Cluster) to a Quad Core (2x Dual Core Cluster) with Cortex-A53 cores with up to 1.1 GHz. As usual, all usable signals of the CPU are available to the user via the industry standard connector strips.
A hypervisor can distribute various tasks between operating systems and the individual cores. It can also manage them independently. Furthermore, the CPU variants AM6528 and AM6548 offer additional 3D graphics support and Full HD resolution on several displays simultaneously.

Two Cortex-R5F cores support the main CPU with extended security functions. The powerful interfaces include 1x Gbit Ethernet, 2x USB3.0, 1x USB 2.0 and 2x PCIe. Up to 8 GB LPDDR4, 256 MByte Quad SPI NOR Flash and up to 64 GB eMMC Flash are used as main memory. The module includes an EEPROM as well as a battery-buffered and power-saving real-time clock (RTC).
As a solution provider of the appropriate software protocols in the area of fieldbus applications, TQ has also been able to win the company Kunbus GmbH as a partner. The suitable software stacks is available for the new TQ module TQMa65xx.
