TQ-Group expands RoboDrive division With the two robotics experts Sören Brüchmann as Division Manager and Robert Vogel in Sales & Business Development, the signs are clearly pointing to growth for RoboDrive

TQ, one of Germany's leading electronics specialists and technology service providers, is placing a new focus on its RoboDrive division, which develops and produces tailor-made drive systems for demanding applications. The aim of the expansion is to leverage potential in the growth markets of humanoid and collaborative robotics as well as industrial automation. Since March 2024, Sören Brüchmann has been on board as Head of RoboDrive and Robert Vogel as Sales & Business Development Manager. Both are transferring internally from the former Robotics division to TQ-RoboDrive, bringing a wealth of expertise from this important market segment.

Their extensive, long-standing expertise in the robotics market makes Sören Brüchmann and Robert Vogel the perfect candidates to drive forward the expansion of TQ-RoboDrive. "There are not many providers in Germany who can industrialize complete robots and have already proven this," explains Robert Vogel. Before moving to TQ-RoboDrive, Sören Brüchmann and he did just that at TQ-Robotics: they successfully industrialized Cobots and managed series production as a service provider, as well as developing and selling TQ's own software and hardware products for Cobot applications.

TQ's frameless servo motors are already an established name in the robotics industry worldwide, especially in the field of prototype construction. "The majority of customers in our RoboDrive business unit come from the robotics industry. There is a high degree of overlap with what we did before in terms of market and customer expertise," explains Brüchmann.

Leveraging market potential: Aiming to triple turnover in five years

"Our servo motors belong to the absolute premium segment," says Robert Vogel. They are not only the most dynamic, but also the lightest of their kind, with market-leading torque density, maximum precision and optimum design freedom. This makes them not only the powerhouses that get humanoids, cobots and four-legged walking robots moving, but also suitable for medical applications such as exoskeletons, surgical robots or laboratory technology, as well as for industrial applications such as rotary and lifting units, precise positioning systems or laser measuring systems.

The TQ Group has set itself the goal of leveraging this immense market potential and is therefore driving forward the expansion of TQ-RoboDrive with the aim of tripling the business unit's turnover within the next five years.

Focus on series production and the development of complete drive systems

In order to achieve this, TQ intends to expand its cooperation with the company's locations in the USA and China and shift its focus increasingly to series production. In addition, the focus in future will not only be on the sale of high-performance motors and complete assembly modules, but above all on the development and production of complete drive systems. Here, TQ can draw on decades of expertise as an EMS system supplier, and in addition scores points with its wealth of experience in the production and assembly of complete mechatronic systems, which is rare in Germany.

USP: Patented complete solutions comprising motor, gearbox and power electronics

"We pair our high-performance motors with suitable gearbox solutions and power electronics that are also developed and manufactured in-house," says Brüchmann. "This enables us to provide complete drive solutions for customers that are specially tailored to their requirements, as we have already proven with the highly successful TQ-HPR50 motor-gearbox unit for e-bikes. Only we can offer this broad, patented range of transmissions, motors and electronics - no other supplier can. Our aim is therefore to make this specialist expertise available to customers even more effectively in future as an integrated development and production partner."
